Week 3 - Ideas generation

IDEA GENERATION

I continued to take the leadership role in the group. I encouraged team members to express their ideas. One of the team members, Tomiris was contributing many ideas and this was pleasing to see. I actively encouraged and motivated the team members by praising their ideas.

I felt that Tomiris had strong ideas and she had done mockups of her designs that related to the brief particularly.

1)One was a mug in the shape of a penguin

2) Nightlight idea showing a projecting the image of the penguin logo.

3) Digital clock

4) Digital App which would closely work the digital clock.

5) Bag with quotes from books published by Penguin Random House publishing company.

6) Cookie jar in the shape of a penguin

7) Customised Headphones with the Penguin Random House Publishing company logo to listen to audio books.

8) Customised Keyrings

9) Customised Bookmarks

10) Customised Bookends

After presenting ideas, I have invited team members to take an idea, to visualise and develop the ideas into a product. Interestingly, Callie who is on the graphic design course chose the tote bag with book quotes and I see her reasoning because according to O'Reilly because the tote bag and book quotes marries design and typography together. Tomiris had done a lot development work around the digital clock already. I sensed that she had invested time and ownership visualisaing of the product designing the digital clock. The group was happy for her to develop it further. Kayleigh-Ann had already volunteered to design the digital app to aid the digital clock. As well as having strong illustration skills Kayleigh- Ann is very tech-savvy and the group felt it would be beneficial for Tomiris and Kayleigh-Ann to work well together consistently attending Monday sessions - so the group felt confident that they could get the job done. Even though, she was working on the power point presentation she assured us it that she could complete the work. I decided to take the nightlight idea, to visualise and develop it. I felt excited to visualise this idea because I felt that I would be using my strong imaginative and creative skills to design illustrations. I could develop the idea utilising my illustrative qualities.
